AGH Department Strengthens Global Visibility Through JSPP 67th Annual Meeting
Tokyo, Japan, March 2026 — Two lecturers from the Plant Biotechnology Division of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Prof. Dr. Dewi Sukma and Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie, proudly represented the department at the 67th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Plant Physiology (JSPP), held in a hybrid format from March 13–15, 2026.
The JSPP Annual Meeting is one of the most respected international forums in plant science, bringing together more than 1,000 participants from over 20 countries. The event serves as a hub for exchanging cutting-edge research, fostering collaboration, and advancing the global dialogue on plant physiology.
Prof. Dr. Dewi Sukma delivered a presentation titled “Morphological and Phenological Characterization of Flowering Traits in French Marigold (Tagetes patula L.)”. Her research sheds light on the flowering traits of French marigold, offering valuable insights for ornamental plant breeding and cultivation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie presented his study, “Molecular Characterization and Structural Insights of SiCAD1 Gene in Indonesian Foxtail Millet (Setaria italica)”. Her work provides molecular and structural perspectives on the SiCAD1 gene, contributing to a deeper understanding of lignin biosynthesis and its potential applications in millet improvement.
Although both lecturers participated virtually due to time and budget constraints, their enthusiasm and dedication were evident. They not only shared their research with the international community but also engaged with the latest scientific developments presented during the meeting.
Their participation underscores the department’s commitment to global scientific engagement, knowledge exchange, and international visibility. It also highlights the important role our researchers play in bridging Indonesian plant science with worldwide advancements.
The Agronomy and Horticulture Department congratulates Prof. Dr. Dewi Sukma and Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie for their outstanding contributions and for showcasing the department’s excellence on the international stage.
