Master Students of Plant Breeding and Biotecnology IPB University, Represents IPB Book Party in the Creative Insight Session at the 2026 IPB Book Fair

IPB Book Party participated in the IPB Book Fair, held on 24–29 March 2026 at the IPB Convention Center. The community was represented by Safira Awaliyah Ramadhani and Dewi Sukma, master’s students in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology at IPB University, who took part in the Creative Insight Session! on the opening day, 24 March 2026. The session was organized by BEM KM IPB.

The IPB Book Party is a literacy community that held its first gathering on 2 August 2025 and is part of the broader Bogor Book Party network operating within Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB). The community was initiated by M Reza Pahlevi (Advisor) and later co-founded by Safira Awaliyah (Coordinator) and Lailatul Badriyah (Secretary). All three founders are master’s students in the Plant Breeding and Biotechnology program at IPB University. Today, the IPB Book Party has grown into a community with a more complete organizational structure and a wider range of programs.

During the Creative Insight Session!, Safira spoke alongside several inspiring figures from government institutions and the creative industries. She participated in a talk show discussing literacy as the foundation of academic thinking, sharing how strong literacy skills have supported her academic journey—particularly in writing scientific papers and preparing scholarship application essays.

Safira also highlighted the important role of literacy in the creative industry. She reflected on her diverse professional experiences, ranging from an internship in the banking sector, serving as Marketing Coordinator at a property development company, to her involvement in several Event Organizer activities in the city of Kendari. She connected these varied experiences with the concepts of “generalist” and “specialist,” referencing the book Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World by David Epstein.

According to Safira, being a generalist is an increasingly valuable skill, enabling individuals to remain flexible and adapt quickly across different environments. She emphasized that this versatility opens many opportunities amid the uncertainties of the modern job market. Safira applies this principle in her own life—she does not define herself solely by her academic field or job title, but continues to grow by pursuing opportunities, interests, and competencies she wishes to develop.
