Dewi Sukma Inderawati: An Inspiring Journey of Resilience and Achievement
In the heart of every great institution lies the story of a student whose journey inspires and uplifts. At the Faculty of Agriculture, IPB University, that story belongs to Dewi Sukma Inderawati—a young woman whose unwavering determination and academic brilliance have made her a symbol of resilience and hope.
Orphaned at a young age, Dewi faced challenges that would have deterred many. Yet, she transformed adversity into strength, proving that circumstances do not define one’s destiny. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, hard work, and an unyielding spirit.
A proud member of Batch 58 in the Agronomy and Horticulture Study Program, Dewi was named Outstanding Student of the Faculty of Agriculture in 2023, a recognition of her academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to community service. Her achievements, however, extend far beyond campus borders.
In September 2024, Dewi was selected as one of the Indonesian undergraduate representatives from IPB University for the prestigious Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme. She spent a semester at Ibaraki University, Japan, where she not only thrived academically but also served as a cultural ambassador, fostering international collaboration and understanding.

What sets Dewi apart is her ability to balance international exposure with academic discipline. While many students face delays in graduation after participating in exchange programs, Dewi defied the odds. She completed her undergraduate studies on time in four years, graduating cum laude with an impressive GPA of 3.58.

Her final undergraduate project, titled “Potential Association of SCoT Molecular Markers with Phenotypic Traits of IPB Corn Kernel”, supervised by Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie and Dr. Arya Widura Ritonga, showcased her research acumen and passion for molecular agriculture. Her work not only contributed to the scientific community but also earned her the Best Presenter Award at the International Conference on Latest Molecular Technology in Agriculture (ICLMTA) 2025 in Bali, Indonesia—an event that saw participation from 84 abstract submissions worldwide.

When asked about the principles that guided her journey, Dewi shared:
“For me, in the pursuit of knowledge, always involve Allah in the process. Show respect and obedience to lecturers (sami’naa wa atho’naa), and believe that they always want the best for their students. Prioritize manners and politeness, and maintain good communication.”

Dewi Sukma Inderawati’s story is more than a list of accolades; it is a powerful reminder that with courage and commitment, no obstacle is insurmountable. Her journey continues to inspire peers and educators alike, embodying the spirit of IPB University’s tagline: Inspiring Innovation with Integrity.
