IPB University Scientists Strengthen Global Collaboration at the 16th AFOB Regional Symposium

Quy Nhon, Vietnam, February 2026 — Two researchers from IPB University, Prof. Dr. Dewi Sukma and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie, represented the Biotechnology Division, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, at the 16th AFOB Regional Symposium (ARS 2026) held from 1–4 February 2026 at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Quy Nhon, Vietnam.

Organized by ICISE-Vietnam in collaboration with the Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB), the symposium carried the theme “Biotechnology for Sustainable Development” and gathered about 120 participants from 14 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, Belgium, and Nepal.

On February 3rd, 2026, both IPB University delegates presented their latest research in the Agricultural Biotechnology Session:

  • Dr. Dewi Sukma delivered her study “Flavonol Abundance in Early Flower Stage of French Marigold (Tagetes patula): A Metabolomic Study.”
  • Prof. Dr. Sintho Wahyuning Ardie presented her ongoing work “Characterization of CAD and COMT Genes in Foxtail Millet for Enhanced Biomass Digestibility and Biofuel Production.”

Their participation is expected to generate future impacts in several key areas:

Beyond their scientific contributions, both researchers engaged in discussions to expand international research collaborations, reinforcing IPB University’s commitment to global academic connectivity.
